Incorrect blocks

Holiday rental calendar is blocked although it is available

Incorrect blocks often occur when several booking platforms import each other’s iCal calendars. It then becomes unclear which source a block actually came from.

Symptoms

Typical signs of calendar feedback loops.

Old block remains

A period remains unavailable in a platform although the booking was cancelled or removed.

Block comes back

You delete a block, but it reappears after the next calendar fetch.

Source is unclear

The platform only shows “blocked”, “closed” or “not available”, but not where the period came from.

Solution

One central source instead of mutual calendar chains.

kalenderabgleich.de remembers the origin of every imported event. When exporting to a platform, the event that originally came from that platform is left out.

This prevents a platform from receiving its own booking back as an external block through a detour.

  • Every block has a traceable source
  • Own events are not exported back to the same source
  • Old direct platform links can be removed
